On Monday I joined around 300 fashion bloggers of all nationalities for the Evolving Influence Fashion Blog Conference hosted by Independent Fashion Bloggers in New York.
Different panels about blog ethics, how to make a business out of blogging, the future of fashion blogging saw popular names like Tavi Gevinson, Susie Lau, Bryanboy, Phil Oh, Imran Amed, Diane Pernet, Mary Scherpe lively interact with online fashion gurus, entrepreneurs and traditional fashion editors
A few hot lines you should not miss:
Ray Shubhankar – Gstar Global Brand Director – ‘blogs make fashion democratic, create a bridge between the runaway and the backstage.. I like the idea of mass individuality which comes from writing on the web about for example personal style…the blogs are the new avenue of the style magazines…antibranding belongs to the blog world’.
Tavi Gevinson – Style Rookie – ‘ You can write about what you care about. There’s always someone who also really loves, like, Seinfeld as well as dead dolls, as well as Prada’
Mary Scherpe – Stil in Berlin – defended the fact that there is nothing wrong if bloggers as well as editors accept ‘gifts’ they receive from fashion houses.
Diane Pernet – A Shaded view of Fashion – about her unique hairstyle: ‘it has no particular meaning, that’s just the way I am’
Imran Amed, the Business of Fashion told us the story of the telephone calls he had from Gucci and Burberry press offices after he published the results of Art of trench vs Gucci Eyeweb poll.
