Triple Major, triple fun!

I was in Paris during the fashion week, but I’m not going to bore you talking about shows you can easily see by yourself on Style.com. What I tried to do in those fabulous days was to visit as many fairs I could, and go to emerging designers’ showrooms and events, to show you something different and fresh.
That’s what I found at Rendez Vous Show Room in Rue Richelieu 60: a selection of new designers, some of them really interesting, which you will probably hear about in the future… not a coincidence that I met Mr. Panconesi from LuisaViaRoma who was having a look around…
The first new brand I’m talking to you about is Triple-Major, a creative studio based in Beijing aiming to reinvent classic notions of fashion. ”Triple-Major World,” the first issue of Triple-Major’s house line finds inspiration from video games, food, grammar and other typically disregarded motifs from everyday life. The collection, as well as all of Triple-Major’s efforts, is a collaborative effort of friends from Beijing (Ritchie), New York (Sarah) and Los Angeles (Steph).
While walking around in the huge show room, I noticed Triple-Mayor collection in a second moment. It was not one of those collections which grabs your attention, but then have nothing to say; instead, when I started looking at each garment I simply could not stop! Each thing had its own story to tell, in each piece a funny and brilliant idea: the bag/sweater, the circle-cut shirt and t-shirt, the elephant sweater, the playful prints. I thought Jeremy Scott would have loved it!
Talking a bit to Sarah, she told me that aside from designing its own collaborative label, Triple-Major also runs a concept store in Beijing supporting avant-garde designers from around the world, bringing international talents such as Fabrics Interseason, Pelican Avenue and Daniel Palillo to China for the first time.
The second floor of the concept store functions as an exhibition space and has previously hosted shows by ffiXXed and the Facehunter.
Hope there will be soon an occasion to make a DesignCatwalk event in Beijing, guys!
