Last year I wrote a post on a famous fairy tale and there I mentioned also straw. I thought that this material would be an interesting element to use for future seasons, both for fashion and furniture design. I was right. The idea came to me while I was preparing a post concerning the Walt Disney character “Rapunzel” and of course it made me smile. In creativity you never know where inspiration comes from. The bags I chose here, represents in my opinion the most interesting innovative work made both with raffia and wicker used for fashion accessories. The Balenciaga bag is my favorite. It’s very hard to redesign classic forms with raffia, a material so different from the original one. The same also for the Tory Burch bag. I think this is stunning both in terms of style and for the interlaced design. Wood has been proposed for the next fashion seasons in different solutions. We can find this motif on print patterns of Rodarte’s fabrics as well as in the Steven Jobs‘ hats, but I don’t really know if this is a trend due to a desire of nature or a dejavu of 70s style.
