Reconstructing Vintage

I found a pearl in the cluttered New York City vintage market. SloaneNYC is a vintage store and laboratory in the trendy Nolita area.
Brian Stanziale, the creative director, took me through the history and the creative concept behind the brand. Three fashion-freak kids, Brian, Levi Okunov and Aaron Genuth opened the store last year with the idea of leveraging on the ‘one of a kind’ principle behind vintage. Stanziale makes a unique dress even more special by tailoring it, swirling on paint, marching studs down the sleeve of a garment, circling a bright crimson piping around a hemline, to name a few modifications.
A side note worth mentioning – would you believe that in a fashion world where most garments are mass produced in China, this stylin’ trio design, tailor and produce right above their own store, in the middle of the Big Apple.
I highly recommend SloaneNYC as food for inspiration for any fashion editors, stylists or simply fashion addicts.
