Reality Studio: Fashion on Wheels
Reality Studio is back with a brand new collection for the Spring Summer 2011. The project, I would rather say, is called “Open To The Public” showcasing the collection in an unconventional way. On bicycles!
Eight women are selected to ride through the streets of Berlin during the Berlin Fashion week in July, modeling the pieces for the current season. The idea behind this collection is rather than limiting the viewing to a selected audience, the Reality Studio have let lose and presents the collection to the public. The starting point of the project was an inspiration from the Californian music performer ‘Flying Lotus’. The label Reality Studio is created by Svenja Specht, who studied fashion and product design. She worked in several fields such as costume and graphic design before launching her brand in Berlin in 2005. Her travels to places such as Beijing, other parts of China and Paris gave her the push towards experimental and innovative designs. For the Spring Summer collection, the pieces speak for themselves as an aspect of the cycling performance. The grey and orange used in the fabrics with a degraded pattern, the wraps and shape of the cuts bring together an androgynous yet sexy and unique look. The models are not solely one thing; sexy or feminine or formal or informal but they embody the whole concept that is fun, independent even distant sometimes. The moving interaction of the eight selected women with the audience for sure expresses the accessibility of the line as well as suggesting a type of woman who is capable of representing more than one archetype of fashion styles. Reality Studio has done it for the summer season so jump on your two wheelers and explore a destination.
