Nobody puts Baby in a corner . Irving Penn put a bunch of stars

Mrs. William Rhinelander Stewart

Almost useless to write the bio of Irving Penn (you can easily read it on wiki) and I’m sure most of you know perfectly who I’m talking about, he was one of the greatest photographers of all time, famous for his fashion pics as well as for a personal view of the magnificent art of photography.

Following I found some portraits of famous personalities shooted on a corner, witness of so many stars of his time, Irving Penn caught forever their personality and character in the tiniest location possible. Is the corner seen as the union of two different levels or just a way to give perspective to the classic point of view?

Marlene Dietrich

Gypsy Rose Lee

Duchess of Windsor

Ballet Society

Salvador Dali

Igor Stravinsky

Marcel Duchamp
