Starting from her quotes (Nous sommes tous frères, 2013) I consider her a person aiming to the human sense of art:
1 : Nous sommes tous frères
2 : Qui porte la main sur une personne inoffensive se déshonore
3 : Demeurons calmes, forts, unis!
4 : Tenez-vous à l’écart des querelles d’autrui
5 : C’est au foyer que naissent les vertus patriotiques
6 : La liberté veritable ennoblit dans la modestie
7 : Nous sommes libres et nous restons nos propres maîtres
Visually, her project Masques, 2011 is very stimulating and interesting (you can see the references in Kae’s work). Marie says:
In this serie, the notion of game is being questioned. I tried to expresse my fascination
with the relationship between the players. I asked myself what the participants
are looking for and whether they are trying to disturb, seduce or intimidate opponents.
These reflections led to a series of pictures of a female model wearing masks inspired by primitive tribal art, yet created from elements of the games being played in the championships.
While in Armures, 2013 she reflects about the relationship between power, war and ornament; these women loose their identity and become the support of their clothing.
In Symétrie de pouvoir, 2013 she shows a research about power, its means of representations and their relation to symmetry. The butterfly has been chosen for his natural symmetrical state. Check Les Grands Hommes as well.
