Georgia Hardinge Print

Georgia Hardinge is our new find! Hardinge’s Spring Summer 2012 collection have had a great impact on me not only for the quality of the fabrics and the liquidity of the looks but also due to the extraordinary shapes. She creates silhouettes that show the female form.
She studied in Parsons Paris School of Art and Design in 2008 and was awarded the ‘Golden Thimble’award for best design on her graduation collection. Georgia Hardinge shows a high appreciation towards art, sculpture, design and technology. Her AW11 and SS12, are made of a combination of these arts. The collections therefore become even more interesting for all five senses rather than just appealing as a piece of clothing. Georgia Hardinge won Merit award in the Vauxhall Fashion Scout show and she has been named one of the ‘ One To Watch’.

Besides many celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Daisy Lowe and Nicole Sherz wearing her designs, a lot of well known brands shared collaborations with her. Samsung was one of the first by having Hardinge to designs a one off collection for their commercial which was aired worldwide. L’Oreal was another big firm that asked for collaboration with the designer which was made successful when Georgia designed cages as dresses for the show. The last and the one we possibly remember the most is the Victoria’s Secret show. She designed some pieces that were dressed in the world known models and quite artistically too.

What I like about Georgia Hardinge is that looking at her past collections, I feel like she is concentrating on the arts more than the fashion, which brings out a better performance while creating her fashion. As she breaks through the limits of the trends and the styling, she frees herself and this brings out a fashion that is magnificently beautiful and purely a great design.
For the AW11 collection in her blog she tells that she got inspired by a friends rib cage scan and she worked on it via oil painting which was then made into fabric prints. I was trying to see what inspired Georgia Hardinge for the SS12 collection and I found out an interview by Metro Pop LA, this time she was inspired by grids, ordinance maps and blue prints. She “wants to map the female body”. Definitely ‘One to Watch’. May be the next Sarah Burton.
