Instead of captivating us with her violet eyes, Caterina Gatta bewitches us with her brand new collection made entirely with original signed vintage fabrics, rich in their history and light in their shapes and image, coming  back to light from hidden, as it would happen in a dark and dusty old stockhouse.
I met her at the unique vintage store Elio Ferraro in Milan where I went to visit my friend Sabrina Querci (here spotted in at the muse magazine presentation at Colette)… what other place to hide for an emerging designer, if not a treasure chest full of signed pieces to take inspiration from!
Caterina, who is selling in Spiga2 (Dolce&Gabbana multibrand shop in Milan) and also an exclusive vintage showroom in NY , told me it took her 2 years to find all the fabrics she needed (but next season she told me in advance ‘confidentially’ that she will introduce some new knits she’s been already researching is researching!): every garment comes with a peace of the original fabric selvedge, and everything is made in Rome by patient seamstresses who usually work for couture collections. Then with her love for photography she mixes it with fresh pepper! No doubt that the two vogue blondies fell in love with her collection when they saw it at Palazzo Morando in Milan.
