Jil Sander: The Bside Collection

I was almost missing this event…rain and clouds over my head (and probably mud under my long dress once arrived at the wonderful yet open-air location), tired legs after the Andrea Zittel event and a whole day at tha fair, and no clear idea if I would have made it, because Pitti’s Press closed the invitation list the firts day already, at 12 o’clock, right some minutes before I got there.
I wont tell you the story, but finally I was there, under the rain, given an umbrella -the event’s gadget, mine acid yellowish/greenish- in a crowd of crazy fashion people and histerycal staff, positioned in a way that my pics can tell you. I loved the show.
Surronded by bright aliens or maybe young color robots, even more impersonal cause I couldn’t see very well their faces (anyway how often do fashion shows give a meaning to models faces?), trying to make good pictures, I came out with this colourful ghost I posted here. I was happy to have changed my mind and thankful that I was lucky enough to get in and to arrive back home: the location Villa la Gamberaia is great but outside Florence in the countryside, streets to get there are narrow and everybody was transported there in very small 7 p. busses. It was worth it-and even fun: People who usually don’t stand in a queue had this time. Just the same for everybody. For dinner, sitting right behind Diane Pernet, I stayed with very nice and kind people I met the day before at Ackermann’s.
I added two images I took at Raf Simon’s show at Giardino di Boboli in 2005 at Pitti Uomo 68°, ’cause I loved that show so much and you can see continuity and personality of this designer.
Aliens and ghost can be scary but wouldn’t you want to meet one of those colorful kids?
