Good vs Bad-Pink vs Leather: GEMMA SLACK

From the Autumn Winter 2010 Collection
Leather and chiffon meets the summer wardrobes by Gemma Slack’s newest collection. Chiffon, perhaps yes but leather in summer sounds a little out of the box for me. Nevertheless we often saw leather in the runway this season. The transparency of the textile combined with diverse cut leather shows the distinction of the no-season trend that is in favor for the past couple of years.
I love Gemma Slack, though. Her designs are a good combination of good and bad. Good represented by the soft pink tones, oranges and beige at sub-tones and bad with cutting edge leather jackets skirts. She got her inspiration for the prints of the silk and chiffon from the literature of the auther JG Ballard, and specifically his work ‘Crash’ which lead her towards choosing a femme fatale character for the collection. This collection is the first since 2009 when she created her brand, that Gemma used colours. She introduced pinks and shades of purple alongside with the signature leather pieces.
Besides her current collection; I’ve added a few pieces from the AW 2010 collection and a video as well to see how she developed and things that she does differently for the summer show. For sure this summer for Gemma Slack, the profile of a woman is less androgynous, more confident, sexy, in control and almost mythical- you are drawn to her yet the spell comes afterwards-.
Gemma Slack shows true potential with a unique style that combines different roles in one look. Blow PR London showcases and sample sales (save the date) Gemma Slack’s lines.
