Eleanor Amoroso has a trademark design that is decorated and with a dark style, that is Fringing. She is deservedly making great strides forward with her first groundbreaking collection based on handcrafted garments and accessories made from long lengths of fringing. London based designer Eleanor Amoroso launched her label with her spring summer graduation project from University of Westminster. Each piece of her speaks for itself and all are hand made. Her work has previously been described as a ‘commemoration of the forgotten art of craftsmanship’ and has already been featured on the cover of Volt Magazine worn by model Alice Dellal, just months after graduating. She interned with Gemma Slack, Charlie Le Mindu where she developed as a designer. Eleanor experimented with a range of creative processes and went on to discover a passion for hand crafting materials, more specifically the techniques of macramé, her work becoming more akin to knitwear. “Inspired by dramatic contemporary design, she has developed her own unique technique of making garments from long lengths of fringing and using macramé techniques to develop innovative knits. She has modernized an ancient craft, which she will continue to develop further in her future work.” If you are cool enough to pull a fringe this long off, be sure to watch Eleanor Amoroso for the hand crafted pieces available at Dark Room, London.
