Fiona Paxton is a London-based designer creating striking hand-beaded necklaces, earrings and cuffs in geometric patterns and she launched her own label in 2008 after 15 years of experience as a textile designer. She graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1992, specializing in Textiles Design.
As a globetrotter Fiona has fused her love for Indian craftsmanship with the iconography of the British punk era she grew up in, that’s conceptual Japanese fashion of the 80s and the German Bauhaus movement. As a trained textiles designer, she launched her eponymous label in 2008, creating striking hand-beaded necklaces and bracelets in geometric patterns.
We saw her FW11 collection at White in Milan and absolutely loved the many different shapes of the necklaces, the use of “melted” metal to simulate stones, the many different techniques (every piece is hand beaded in India). My favourite piece was a choker made of natural tanned leather, on which were applied actual metal sequins in a golden/bronze nuance.
