I’ve been lucky enough to live some time abroad, specifically six months in Hong Kong back in 2009. At that time one of my favourite spots in town was the neighborhood called Sham Shui Po: basically, a huge permanent fabric and accessories fair that enlighten the eyes of every designer I know who had the chance to browse streets and streets packed with free fabric samples, button shops, every kind of embellishments in ceiling high piles. I remember I went there with an empty trolley and came back home with the trolley full of fabrics picked among thousands, just to make something in the future. A couple of those I still remember were beautiful samples of a heavy cotton toile, batik printed with a geometrical blue and white pattern. I thought they looked like bone china motifs, and chose some different shades and patterns to keep for myself.

I immediately thought about those fabrics when I saw the London College BA graduation collection of Kathy Lam, Crystalline Blue, and suddenly thought: that is what I wish I had done with those instead of forgetting them in a drawer!

Anyway. Kathy’s collection starts from historical Chinese blue and white porcelain wares, translating them in boxy and oversize shapes that are the key silhouette for the collection and recall both Chinese traditional clothing and contemporary uniforms, together with hard pressed pleats. Then, photocopic prints are the true highlight, tones of light to dark blues to create shadows on garments, to bold out the details.

I just love it and also the way it was styled, with spots of blue and white paint as makeup for the models.

The world of Siripirun Tan is a place defined by an incredible creative flair, a wide range of folded figures are handcrafted and proposed in three dimensional textures where there's no space left for banality.

They seem like flowers, like geometric shapes or colored waves made of precious fabrics. I'm a designer and amidst all the disciplines that I studied in the past years, "modular pattern" was one of my favorite.

We drew shapes that we transformed in textures and the thing that intrigued me most of this discipline was when a simple sign could transform itself into an ocean of little elements with the identity completely changed.

This amazing work of art handcrafted in unpadded matelassè and geometric folded fabrics, is perfectly balanced with the simple lines of the clothes that represent the perfect background for a meadow full of buds.

A rich and valuable exhibition will open the 15th of june at quartier21 to give a large view of what designers, specially from nord europe and the netherlands (supported by the dutch embassy in Austria) are researching in this field, presenting electronic textiles and wearable technologies so expanding the possibilities of contemporary fashion design. After attending a residency at quartier21 and showing at the previous exhibition, first introduced artist Bart Hess, is represented with the interactive video ‚Mutants? in which visitors can control the behavior of the ‚mutated? person by blowing into a small sensoric tube. On the occasion of the opening, June 14 at 20:30, the designerwill be showcasing ‚Liquified,? a slime performance related to his work as stylist for Lady Gaga. Inspired by the liquifying filters used in image processing, Hess dressed the pop singer in slime to change her external appearance.

It's not the perfect moment for me to write a post about bikes, someone stole my little city bike three days ago and I was furious. I stumbled upon this amazing blog and I recalled all the beautiful moments I lived with my beloved bike during the past years.

It was like in a movie when you see your life passing in front of you trhough memories and visions, quite funny if you think the scene, but really nostalgic moments for me.Cycle CHIC is a viral blog, It all started on shooting people with their bike, they collect pics from every side of the world, having multiplied the cycle hunting in different cities.

I have no driving license, cycling is essential for me if I want to have a normal life in Milan, the city where I live. Now I feel as if a side of my body is missing, I want to take some inspirations from this website just to understand if I have to buy for the third time the same model or finally changing it.

My Bible:

cycling is against pollution
cycling is a kind of meditation
cycling keeps you fit
cycling is convenient (unless you are robbed each year of your bike -->me)
cycling keeps your mind young
cycling makes of you a part of a smart group
cycling is silent
cycling is smart
cycling is cool
cycling is against pollution
cycling is a kind of meditation
cycling keeps you fit
cycling is convenient (unless you are robbed each year of your bike -->me)
cycling keeps you young
cycling makes you part of a smart group of people
cycling is silent
cycling is smart
cycling is cool

The Italian brand Borsalino gave its best to impress buyers and visitors at the latest WHITE fashion show. The new collection is a galaxy of proposals that take inspirations both from art than from tailoring worlds.

Some hats of the Fall Winter collection 2012/2013 reproduce the tracks of the paper models and the chalk marks used in production. They create geometric hand-embroidered and machine-stitched drawings which personalise the following hats we snapped at the show.

I don't know if you love honey, I really do and I feel the same for the following hat that recalls honeycomb shapes, it might be risky wearing it in proximity of a real one, bees may remain a little confused.

I love the colors and the original way they have proposed "numbers" as fashion themes, I was not that great at math at my art school, but It could be curious to have some numbers on my head, at least I could wear what I didn't learn. Perfect proportions and dimensions of the crowns create a mix of solutions which produce a very colourful variety.
