Ethical Fashion Africa project by Vivienne Westwood – Pitti Uomo 80th edition

This said, that’s not the only good reason to read about Vivienne Westwood’s new project: indeed, her new collection of bags and accessories for the Ethical Fashion Africa Project, have a good good soul itself. This line of accessories was created in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (United Nations + World Trade Organization) and was produced entirely in Nairobi, with the goal of generating production and employment for the local community, especially among single mothers or women suffering of diseases like AIDS.
The collection for next autumn/winter 2011/12, available exclusively online in the eco-ethical branch of Yoox.com (YOOXYGEN), comprises 14 models, for both men and women, all made with recycled materials (electrical wiring , aluminum scrap and plastic bags). In addition to classic accessories (bags, totes, key rings), there is a limited edition clutch bag, made through the recycling of blue curtains fabric.
A project with a double-eco mission: the use of material that minimizes environmental impact, and local production to allow the growth of a sustainable business within the African community.
The whole collection was showcased in the beautiful location of Palazzo Corsini’s Garden and its Limonaia, during Pitti Uomo 80th edition. Vivienne was there too. I touched her. Yes I did. Everybody knows it brings a lot of luck.
