Digital Prints: Zeynep Tosun

Zeynep Tosun finished her masters in Istituto Marangoni while experting in illustration, digital fashion and patterning. She developed her Haute-Couture skills while working for Alberta Ferretti and Philosophy Di Alberta Ferretti before she moved back to her home town, Istanbul. She was named the 3rd in ITKIB’s (The General Secretariat of Istanbul Textile and Apparel) young and promising designers. She attended the Istanbul Fashion Week in the past few years. However she wanted to move on a different path with the SS12 collection and took it to where it possibly belongs; London. SS12 collections of designers, both established and emerging, show that the techno-fabric concept and digital printing is one of the ‘do’s of the season. Nevertheless Zeynep Tosun followed this trend perfectly by combining one macro-trend (digital prints) with another; Florals. She digital flower prints on silk garments, chiffons while not losing the volume to the material she successfully created great volumes. On|Off hosted an exclusive catwalk dinner at Rankin’s London studio to commence the London Fashion Week. A collaboration of young designers with the studio have given a successful presentation for a limited edition printed fanzine which features a couple of the up and coming designers and photographer in which Zeynep was present. Zeynep Tosun’s Spring Summer 2012 collection definitely speaks for itself. It is authentic, ethnical, Eastern, Western and even more. The structures and volumes refer to the urban couture that was also seen in Balenciaga and the play of proportions certainly make the cut.
