Design Catwalk loves… Mandy Coon

I don’t know if I would have thought about jellyfishes at a first glance to Mandy Coon’s SS11 collection. When I first saw it I loved the bright colours, the dark yet aethereal feel, the layered and deconstructed silohuettes.
But you know, it’s like when you read an art critic and you think “would really the artist mean the solitude of the human condition by painting a banana?” so when you look a designer’s work and you read about the inspiration, sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. And sometimes, like for Mandy Coon’s collection, when you read about the inspiration – jellyfishes – you suddendly start to look at the garments under a new angle. Yes, that translucent fabric… that coral colour, that floating surface…
Anyway, Mandy. The collection is great.
