A group of highly skilled designers is the soul that lies behind “Happiness is a $10 Tee” tshirt label. Created by Mike Scarpellini who graduated from FIDM Los Angeles, the production is entirely made in Italy, what a surprise! I really like the prints, it’s very democratic the affordable price concept, I love their vintage pics. A great sense of style in their creations that takes my whole approval (I’m a graphic designer).

Blume&Dadivas is a project which was created from a fusion of matter between movement and stability. It is meant to be a meeting point for different cultures blending art and dream together, a game of balance contrast between empty and full, the interpretation of contrasts between common and surreal focused on the concept of individualism. It is the paradox creating the chasing of timeless space between present and past.

The research leads to geometry of essential cuts and to a disproportion of the volumes which is tangible and plays with the visual perception. The denial of the ephemeral being the focus with an abundance of almost imperceptible details. The aim is to communicate through our imagination an unordinary awareness which goes far away from pre-existent shapes, inviting each single mind to concentrate on each own unique and absolute personality. Collections have no seasons at all and this is a very important aspect together with the concentration of themes addressed to the awareness of ones own feelings further to inside and external criticism without any limit of expression.

The entirely artisan production aims to maintain pieces of limited edition.

Employed material are the result of an accurate selection of natural sought-after fabrics amongst out of productions materials and vintage denim with a preference to cotton, linen and silk combined at times with advanced technical fabrics.

The aim is to create a concept which combined to the colours research might point out the entire exclusivity of the clothes.

For Spring/Summer 2010 Nicomede turned to Futurism. With Anton Giulio Bragaglia and Arturo Bragaglia’s 1911 photodynamism portrait Searching and Slap being the starting point, marking the beginning of his fascination with photodynamic photography and futurism. Inspiring him to think about the movement and dynamism of the subject in Searching and Slap and which garments would be appropriate for such energy­filled expressionism.
His research into other minimalist and futurist artists brought him to Eva Hesse’s Accession II; inspiring him to have embellished collars and shorts. While Larry Bell’s 20” Glass Cube became the starting point of the pastel and tonal colour palette; leading to metallic panelling, collars and waistbands. The overall shapes and details focused around the geometry and shapes in Mel Bochner’s work; culminating in shaped sleeves and cropped and streamline silhouettes.
The collection has a very sporty aesthetic and the fabrics used are representative of this; with neoprene jackets and bottoms, nylon shirts and shorts and tyvek t­shirts.

Biography
London based Nicomede Talavera is a Central Saint Martin’s BA Menswear Fashion Design student. Currently in his placement year, he is interning with London, New York and Paris based designers and will return to his final year in 2010. Spring/Summer 2010 marks the release of his first 14­look capsule collection.

La sua graduation collection è ispirata ai tatuaggi tribali, tradotti in un concetto femminile ed etereo che non ha niente a che vedere con gli omaccioni muscolosi ai quali questi tatuaggi vengono spesso associati.

Just graduated at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts (Netherlands), I think Ratna Ho is a brilliant designer. Her graduation collection is inspired by tribal tattoos, translated in a feminine and aethereal concept that has nothing to do with the tough-muscle men we often associate them with.
