Who remembers the song “I don’t know what to do with myself”? A famous hit of the popular American band “The Stripes”. Well, the lyrics of this music could summarize the relationship I recently had with my hair, a rather turbulent conflict is going on between me and my curly. Then, in order to give a rest to my rebel head and to my mirror, I decided to do a search of hairdos photos of 60’s stars.
Fashion would be a word with too many parameters for Alexis Reyna. He designs, he paints, he performs, he writes. He takes it to the edge. He´s a savage designer. He´s an expressionist. I´ve met Alexis while we were working for Desigual two years ago, more or less in the same period when he was presenting his fantastic collection Unleashed in the 080 Barcelona Fashion week and from where some pieces were chosen for singer M.I.A.s last world tour.
DUD.ZIN.SKA is a brand runned by Anna Dudzinska, a Fashion Designer based in Poland. Anna’s collections may be described as a street style avant-garde, combining different subjects such as construction vs. deconstruction, old vs. new, pretty vs. ugly etc. She’s inspired by modern architecture and interior design and those subjects could be found in her works. She also designs short RTW collections recognized as a FASH.LAB.
KARLOTALASPALAS finds inspiration in her own human nature, her deepest feelings, her everyday surroundings, all makes part of a whole that walks towards us over the catwalk when she shows us her collections. This Barcelona based Spanish designer has won twice the male collection 080 Barcelona Fashion award, with 29 years old and almost 4 years over the catwalks she s probably one of the most remarkable emerging young Spanish designers of this times.
Last week I had the luck to enter to one of the most exclusive areas in the 080 Barcelona fashion week: the backstage. Here s where I shared all the excitement, nerves and efforts of the designers launching their new spring summer 2012 collections at the historical building of the University of Barcelona. Male collection award winner Karlota Laspalas delighted us with her white painted soldiers in her collection “Believe” , Women collection award winner Manuel Bolaño presented a colorful positively driven dramatic collection “How to heal a broken heart” full of tiny colored skulls, roses and daisies while black tears dripped out of the models eyes.

I have no doubt we will see a gorgeous actress gracing the pages of Vogue in a Liz Black design in the very near future. During the beginning of a fashion career, it is every girls dream to work for a high-end fashion designer. My dream became a reality when I had the chance to observe the creation of a new designer brand. Ladies, meet your new best friend…Liz Black.
