We may not come from north europe, but we definitely love Won hundred, created by Nikolaj Nielsen who did found it with the ambition to challenge the way fashion was grasped in native Denmark. We have to give to this brand extra bonus points for the ability to define a modern style with a very simple and progressive touch in their creations. If you peeped their website, you’ve certainly seen the experimental approach they’ve chosen also in their webpage. Maybe the navigation can be slightly disturbing to some who check the homepage on a tiny laptop, but I love the simplicity and lateral thinking they brought to their creative concept, from the typography style to the graphic layout, also including the lookbook and campaign shots. Landed in NYC this year, I really see in this brand a rising star that’s ready to pop up on practically every street and to flow neatly into any wardrobe. In October 2010, Nike and Jun Takahashi, founder and head designer of Japan’s coveted clothing label Undercover will release the first Nike x Undercover GYAKUSOU performance running collection.

Fusing cutting edge Nike running innovations and design and functionality of Takahashi’s Undercover-whose dedication to a less-is-better design philosophy mirrors that of Nike founder Bill Bowerman’s passion for the athletic benefits of minimalism-the design partnership amplifies levels of technical precision and intuitive function, delivering a unique and modern perspective on running by runners. Having started running two years ago, beginning with 5k runs three to four times a week, Takahashi soon found his distance increasing. “At the beginning I wasn’t as serious as I am now, but the more I ran, the more I came to enjoy it and I became increasingly focused. Now, I run 12 or 13km every other day. It’s kind of like meditation to me-but with adrenaline. Running allows me to balance these two opposites almost like a form of zen. Whenever I travel for business, I run there too. It’s part of my life. I have to run.”

Taking its name from a small but highly dedicated group of Tokyo-based runners who with Takahashi passionately run their city [the name Gyakusou comes from 'gyaku' meaning wrong way or reverse and 'sou' meaning 'run or running' - a reference to the group running counter-clockwise while the rest of Tokyo's runners run clockwise in the city's parks], the partnership draws upon a shared obsession for design innovation and improving the performance of the athlete.

“To me as a designer” says Takahashi, “style and functionality is very important and when I started running, I looked very closely at the color and styling of products as well as their performance attributes and functionality. The more I ran, the more I thought about my perfect running product. “I already had a relationship with Nike so discussed working together on a performance running project. Nike has always created the most innovative running product and working with them was an opportunity to create a collection that fuses my work with Undercover with Nike’s design innovation and our shared commitment to running. We both wanted to create an authentic performance running collection from the point-of-view of the actual runner.”

The GYAKUSOU Zoom Spider TT+ running shoe encapsulates Nike’s latest technologies in two unique makeups, with Lunarlite foam, reactive Zoom Air, Flywire support and reflective elements that complement the all-over reflective check options on key apparel in the line. With concealed specially developed pocket added to staple pieces like shirts, pants and shorts, a technical approach is sustained throughout.  Total articulation and storage solutions were paramount during the design process. Carrying day-to-day essentials in silence is an integral part of Takahashi’s needs as a runner, ensuring his run remains a mobile personal space where he can concentrate, unwind and continually achieve.

Fabrics remain quiet, while keys and coins are kept from contact – one of the designer’s main concerns, “I was using every pocket my pant had. Now with this pocket system, you can put things in with order without making noise. I think that will help the regular runner.” For Fall/Holiday 10, Nike and Takahashi also focused on colors. Wanting to provide an alternative to traditional running neons and brights, the result sees subtle colors that Takahashi describes “reflect a harmony with nature” fused with reflective safety details and a recurring red trim inspired by the artery vein – part of performance’s physical foundations.

Process IV: CAUTION FRAGILE

The new collection from Moi Multiple gives body to that feeling through whisper light fabrics and fragile, intangible structures that protect like warm winter fabrics.

Caution Fragile:  Beware! Body and soul are to be elated, but also protected. That’s why Organza and silk creponne are set to heavier materials like wool crepe, Alcantara, felt and soft cashmere. Traditional lingerie details are reinstated and are brought again to the forefront, taking the role as semi-transparent scaffolding.

Unique combinations of materials give life to soft, ultra-light soft jackets that flaunt fluffy linings while passing between form and structure.

Gems, buttons and Tyrolean knots are set in Alcantara, giving an unexpected vacuum like effect. The particularities pay homage to yesteryear and captivating trompe l’oeils. The volume shared with the body draw a silhouette ever the more feminine and sensual.

An interesting combination that may define Carlos Miele contemporary collection.
During a Pr event held in the magic atmosphere of the brand Meatpacking flagship store, the designer muse Lauren Remington Platt styled the collection shooting. A group of shining models featured stylish yet casual cocktails dresses, fluo make up and beaded stilettos.

Thanks to Emilia from Carlos Miele Ny Pr office who gave us a few insights on the brand; such as the launch of Bio Denim, exclusively produced with excess fabric.

The new Trussardi 1911 collection is a group of basic garments that can be mixed and matched. Occasionally, you might recognize the sleek silhouette of the Savile Row blazer, the cuts of the duffle coat and military jacket, and the technical finishes on the outerwear parka that keeps out the freezing Canadian weather. These styles, with a time-tested design and details that men love (and are reassuring, given the way things are today), have been renewed and share new materials, motifs, and colors. Black and red or black and white lumberjack checks could be the linking thread of this collection and are found in different formats and all materials: flannel jackets with a double row of buttons, ankle-length carrot pants, caban jackets of various lengths, form-fitting felted wool and leather blouson jackets, bulky printed or jacquard wool sweaters, cotton poplin shirts, and silk ties. The two-tone motifs are also used on leather or coated canvas bags and luggage, high-top sneakers, English-style wing-tip derby shoes, and even T-shirts and jeans made with up to three different fabrics. These themes continue the patchwork tradition that began with the previous Trussardi 1911 men’s collection. The silhouettes, details, and finishes that have characterized the brand for the past five seasons have been given a new twist for fall and winter with the addition of shirts featuring a contrasting double collar, de?lave? effects on leather, and embroidery applied to shirts and vests. The decorations, inspired by Samurai uniforms, are another reference to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Made with parachutes material, these wonderful creations give end to boring and common raincoat.
