Alexey Bednij . Shadow portraits

Sometimes I wonder if our shadow is part of an illusion or is our body that belongs to an unreal world. What if the world were characterized mostly by shadows than by objects? What if is the shadow that casts its light on the body?

Light is the big component of this process, a phenomenon which can take on different meanings according to how it characterizes shapes. I’m really fascinated by the world of the Russian photographer Alexey Bednij, a 28 year old artist who manipulates photos of people and animals in order to create portraits that he calls ‘collages’.

Alexey creates, trough tree-dimensional patterns, an incredible modular vision where light and shadows are in balance and share the same importance.
