A fake snake holed up in the bag . Freitag Special Edition

A tribute to Japan I wore . A very old pair of ’Irregular Choice’
Although it’s four weeks I’ve not been around the city (I’ve been resting by the sea to regain energy and be ready for the 50th Milan design week), two days ago I ended up attending an opening in Corso Como 10, my italian favourite concept store. It was actually the vernissage of another happening held in the first floor of the stunning shop (a design exhibition I’m going to talk about in the next weeks). But as by the time I was there, I stopped on the mid-floor peering around the presentation of the new Freitag limited edition, a collection that has been realized exclusevely for the milanese fashion landmark. Freitag is certainly a brand to watch, a line of bags that have made the right leap moving from a street style to sportswear and then introducing interesting handcrafted details. The best “design bridge” (brand identity term) in terms of style seen in fashion lately; the perfect way of dealing with a change of positioning statement, carefully affirming a new identity that remains perfectly in line with the original one. Weeks ago I wrote a post about bags, doing some scouting of cool brands to suggest to our beloved readers; guess which brand amidst the others was in? Freitag of course, with one of these cool azure bags (we’re always farsighted). For whom is in Milan during the next week, the opening will be held between 5pm and 9pm on 12 April 2011 with the exclusive presentation of the strictly limited FAKE SNAKE edition. The Freitag FAKE SNAKE proves craftsmanship still matters. Just lacing a Fake Snake shopper needs 648 pieces assembled by hand. The pouch, with 266 pieces is a bit quicker to make. The result is where the name comes from: Far from rough and scaly. The trucks they skin to create FREITAG bags and accessories are responsible for the passing of countless innocent animals, so they pay tribute to the lives of these anonymous traffic victims with a group of animals displayed on the walls that wait to become pendants for your own Freitag. When fashion meets concept!
